Story

Join me as I lace up my running shoes and prepare to take on a monumental challenge for a cause close to my heart.

On July 15th, I will be participating in a 10K Spartan Race, not only as a personal test of endurance but also to raise awareness and support for mental health and suicide prevention. This incredible journey is a collaboration between two organizations whose missions align with my passion: The Nicholas Negron Mental Health Foundation and SAVE: Suicide Prevention, Information, and Awareness.

The Nicholas Negron Mental Health Foundation (https://www.nnmhf.org) was established to honor the memory of Nicholas Anthony Negron, a remarkable young man whose life was tragically cut short by suicide. Nicholas was not only a beloved son, brother, and friend but also a true athlete, known for his unmatched agility and skill on the soccer field. His compassion and dependability extended beyond sports, as he saved the lives of two children as a lifeguard and actively contributed to his local community. Through this foundation, we aim to carry on Nicholas's legacy by promoting mental health, fostering compassion, and preventing suicide.

SAVE, on the other hand, stands as one of the nation's pioneering organizations dedicated to preventing suicide. With over 30 years of experience, SAVE believes that suicide is preventable and that everyone has a role to play in saving lives. They have developed best practices for media reporting, award-winning campaigns, evidence-based programs for schools, and comprehensive training for professionals and communities. SAVE's dedication to public awareness, education, and resources has made them a champion of change, recognized by The White House and accredited with America's Best Charities seal.

By participating in this 10K Spartan Race, I aim to merge the missions of these two organizations, raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention while honoring Nicholas Negron's spirit. The Spartan Race, with its demanding obstacles and challenging terrain, symbolizes the hardships faced by those battling mental health issues. With every step I take and every obstacle I overcome, I hope to inspire others to find the strength within themselves to overcome their own personal struggles.

But I can't do it alone. I need your support today. Your donation to The Nicholas Negron Mental Health Foundation and SAVE will help fund vital mental health resources, educational programs, and initiatives that save lives. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by mental health challenges and shine a light on the importance of suicide prevention.

Join me in this transformative journey as we break down barriers, conquer obstacles, and promote mental health awareness. Together, we can empower individuals, families, and communities to find hope, healing, and support. Let's take a stand against mental health stigma and work towards a world where no one feels alone in their struggle. Donate today and be a part of this incredible movement for change.

SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education)

SAVE is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending the tragedy of suicide through education, training, support, and advocacy. We fulfill our mission by:

  • Equipping individuals, including friends, family, coworkers, and educators, with the knowledge to identify warning signs and refer those at risk to the support they need;
  • Providing empathetic assistance and valuable resources to navigate through the devastating loss of a loved one to suicide;
  • And advocating at both state and national levels– amplifying the voices of those impacted by suicide.

By offering free educational resources, teaching life-saving skills, supporting suicide loss survivors, and advocating for change, we believe we can make a significant impact and save more lives. For more information, visit www.save.org
